20 week scan!!

Baby was very stubborn!! She checked everything, it’s all perfect. Baby refused to let her check the base of its spine and its tummy to see where the cord was attached !!

She sent me off to walk to 10 minutes…. came back and scanned again…. same thing!!!

She sent me off to peepee (HALLELUIAH!!!!!! OMG I was soooooooo desperate!!!!), came back and she could just see the bottom area…. just, but then baby decided to cross its leggies so she could see the tummy button haha!! Finally she got it.

DH said to me tonight… when I went to the bathroom, he waited in the u/s room for me to go back for a 3rd try at baby’s spine and tummy…. he asked the girl “I know you aren’t allowed to tell us, but could you see if it’s a boy or girl from the scan?” She said no cos baby was too unco-operative, and had it’s logs crossed. Baby wanted us to wait!!

19 weeks!

Not too much to report this week other than I’ve been feeling really good! Still feeling little baby daily, but still only those tiny little fluttery movements. It has been mainly after dinnertime onwards.

We have our 20 week scan tmor morning How exciting we get to see our gorgeous bundle again!! Also a little scary to see that he/she is doing just fine. Hopefully, we’ll get a new piccie!!!

And onto Jellybaby!

Your amazing little baby is now around 10 inches in length! If this seems a bit shocking, you’ll be relieved to know they’ve not actually grown over 3 inches, but that their little legs are now straight enough to be measured. This is when doctors begin measuring fetal growth from head to toe, (no longer “crown to rump” or CR). Lanugo (little hairs) covers their whole body now, trapping that charming cheese-like vernix caseosa (see week 18) to the surface to the skin. This week your lil’ fetus will start on an appetizing diet of amniotic fluid which they are now capable of swallowing, digesting, and passing the fluid as far as their tiny “large” intestines. Fortunately for you, this nice little lump of baby-poop won’t be coming out while they’re still in your womb. Some time shortly after they’re born, this fun lump will become the first in a long line of baby poops. (What finally comes out— commonly known as “meconium” to the science world, will be black and sticky, and you’ll be very glad it happens only once!)

10 inches!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!

This week, baby is the size of a mango!

Yup, I had my u/s today. It was amazing but oh so very short. She only spent about 5 minutes scanning. As soon as she put the scanner on my tummy, baby was there. She got a shock she found him/her so quickly

The baby kept putting its hands over its eyes! Then it was holding up one hand, i could make out each bone along each finger! It was fantastic!!! When she tried to get the pic for us, baby shot off the screen Was soooo funny!!!!!

So here you go, click on the picture to see it full size:

12 weeks!! WOW!!!

Where has the time gone? We’re officially 12 weeks today!! We are well into countdown to out scan (Wednesday) woohoo!! I can’t wait to see this little baby and know for sure he/she is growing well and active!!

I seemed to have a tummy growth spurt on Wed/Thurs this week, even Stewart said I looked bigger, bless him! He’s very protective of me and little baby!

My dentist has kindly agreed to let me drop back to NHS care so I can take advantage of my exemption for dental treatment (because I’m on a payment plan, he wasn’t obliged to let me use the exemption). So this saves us £17 per month until baby’s 1st birthday!! Excellent news!! He said it’s no problem for me to go back onto the plan after that!

Jellybean update!!:

Even though your little Einstein’s body is still growing quite rapidly 2 inches long right now, the overall super-speedy growth of their amazing brain continues to leave the head proportionately larger than the body— and is actually slightly more than one third of their total body mass! The head and neck are still straightening at this point as can be seen by their little chin lifting off of the chest. Your baby is also actively rehearsing “breathing” by using amniotic fluid to prepare the lungs for future air respiration.

The big news: your little pooper is now officially going to need diapers! Although a majority of the waste produced is transferred to the mother’s system for discharge (to avoid having it linger in the amniotic sac), some urine is released to the amniotic fluid and your baby will actually breathe it in before it passing it on to your for discharge. Not to worry, urine–in this particular form, is completely harmless to your baby.
